Tying up the year's work can be a busy and stressful time for many. Often these assessments and exams require a lot of time and energy, not to mention heart and soul if you are in the creative programmes!

Use these simple tips to keep you on track and focussed, and you will be well prepared for success.

Tips to keep on track and focussed
• Organise your study timetable and due dates
• Clarify your goals and make them achievable
• Find a suitable study space
• Contact the Learning Advisors for support with planning
• Create a wellbeing plan
• Take regular breaks
• Self care – remember to spend some time doing the things you enjoy
• Remember to eat regularly and drink plenty of water
• Sit in the OP gardens for a few minutes
• Visit the OP Prayer room in G103
• Work out at Unipol
• Check in with your lecturer, let them know how you are going
• Contact the Student Success advisors for support with motivation and time management
• Celebrate your achievement! Look back on what you have done and where you have come from – amazing job!

Fear of failing
Having a fear of failing is very natural. Remember that there is no such thing as failing, only learning experiences.
Be prepared for the unexpected. Planning things out doesn’t smooth things out, but it helps you to managing the bumps along the way.

Received a bad mark?
...it is not the end of the world.
- Be kind to yourself.
- Give yourself time to process.
- It is normal to feel disappointed, upset, frustrated or confused (allow these feelings).
- Do what you love and is good for you (hang out with friends, exercise, watch your favourite TV show, listen to music).
- Temporary distraction can be useful when dealing with intense emotions.
- Seek emotional support.
- Put it into perspective.
- Think about what you believe went wrong.
- Talk to a classmate or friend (share experiences, what has helped, what hasn’t).
- Talk to your lecturer or learning advisor for detailed feedback and tips to improve.
- Write ideas, tips, suggestions down.
- What is upsetting you? Why did you receive this result?
- Reflect on your study habits and attendance.
- Think about positive steps and strategies you can do to help improve your learning (duration and quality of preparation time, class attendance, prioritise your tasks).
- Talk to our support staff for advice if needed – we are here for you.
- Reframe your view of failure. Failure is part of success!
